"Weak is the new sensation dredged up from the stinkiest sewers in Madrid. Four horsemen of the Apocalypse on a mission to rescue a sound they refuse to let happily die. “The Wheel” is their first release and it duly complies with that expected from a prime punk rock band: Speed, melody and social commentary. There is much more to it than this though, different ingredients so simultaneously complex yet simple that I’ll be merciful and cut to the chase.
Fangui, Merida, Tote and Fon are four living, breathing cartoon characters with much to say, however knowing that these same four have long played a key part in bands such as The Attack of the Brain Eaters, Wild Animals and Ulises Lima and have now joined forces to create and pay tribute to a sound so different to that they regularly pursue with aforementioned bands, can’t help but spark curiosity.

“The Wheel” doesn’t always spin round on the same axis, avoiding falling in the fatal trap of the banal, singalong chorus. Sweet melodies can be found in harmony with lyrics as bitter as a lemon, while salty guitars lock in with a sour, rabid rhythm section. In short this wheel’s different tastes and textures make it a fitting dish to digest while in the mountains, on the beach, while seeking warmth in Winter or refreshing the swelter of Summer.

These first eight songs that Weak serve up are squarely aimed at an audience pushing their thirties (or well past that milestone), those who have grown up on a diet of NOFX, Satanic Surfers and Lagwagon. That’s not to say younger generations weaned on the characteristic Cali and Swedish punk rock sound won’t find solace in what Weak bring to the table in this first offering.

All this because though “The Wheel” is dressed head to toe in “that 90s sound” which inevitably transports us back to a time of acne and chocolate spread sandwiches, it’s songs pulsate with those realities so adult it’s positively scary with the ease in which one can see themselves reflected in them."
